The Center Conservation District received a $2,575 grant from the Colorado Tree Coalition to plant trees and shrubs on the District's property for the following benefits:
- Improving soil health
- Providing pollinator and wildlife habitat
- Introduce local species to the community
- Provide windbreak and shade
- Property beautification
In partnership with the Rio Grande Conservation District, the Center Conservation District is hosting local professionals from the Colorado State Forest Service (CSFS) and Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) to plant the trees and shrubs. Students from Sargent and Center schools will also be joining us to learn about tree planting, care, and management and how trees and shrubs are important natural resources.
